Brantford-Brant Chamber of Commerce Green Energy Hub Receives Provincial Recognition

TORONTO: Recognized for its leading advocacy efforts on behalf of the local business community, the Brantford-Brant Chamber of Commerce has received the 2011 Advocacy award from the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. The award was presented at the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) Annual General Meeting and Convention at Toronto May 6-8, 2011.

In a show of support for the Chamber’s efforts, in 2010 the Provincial Government provided the Green Energy Hub Task Force with funding to assist with the development of a business plan to further the project. The Green Energy Hub, now has the potential to become a centre of excellence for key economic activities from research and development, to education, to the manufacturing of energy technology products. The establishment and success of this project has bolstered the Chamber within the community and created a model for other chambers to position themselves in the global marketplace.

“The Brantford-Brant Chamber of Commerce had developed a long-term vision for the economic prosperity of their community. ” says Len Crispino, President & CEO of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. “This is just the kind of innovation that could be adopted by other chambers of commerce and boards of trade in our membership throughout the province. ”

The Advocacy Award was among several awards presented to chambers for their leadership and innovative programs and services. The OCC Annual General Meeting and Convention is the main policy-setting conference of the chamber network in Ontario.
